DIVIDED BOWL AND CUPS

Budapest

The most beautiful pieces of the so-called divided bowls and cups, probably accessories of ritual ceremonies, were discovered on the settlements of the Late Copper Age in Csepel-sziget. There were similar objects found that used to accompany the dead to the afterlife. These types of bowls and cups were decorated with impressed dots and engraved triangles typical of the culture, but some cups show paint marks as well. They were probably used for offering food and drink sacrifice.
