POT IN THE FORM OF A MILK JUG WITH TWO HANDLES
Budapest – Gellérthegy-Vízmedence

This type of pot is one of the most wide-spread artefacts from the Middle Copper Age. For a long time it was mostly noted from the cemeteries of the Bodrogkeresztúr culture that occupied the Hungarian Great Plains. It became a symbol of the Middle Copper Age in the Alföld because of its harmonic form and great frequency. However, after the settlements of the Ludanice culture became more known, it turned out that this object was not just used in one culture. One proof of this is the piece found on Gellérthegy in Budapest. This kind of pot was less frequent in the Ludanice culture, and whether these items were locally produced or imported from the east has to be still decided by further research.
