ROUND MUGS
Budapest-Békásmegyer

Here are some grey, smooth, round mugs with collar necks. At the very beginning of the Late Neolithic, the production of excellent quality pottery from the previous era continued. The quality of these products was no different from earlier pottery. One important change though was that instead of incision, decorations were almost entirely made by painting. The colourful earthen paint applied to the surface after baking however fainted or wore off in most cases during the years. The two mugs excavated in Békásmegyer are typical of the early stage of the Lengyel culture.
