Culture of plants - Plants of cultures
Plants and culture in European History
Temporary exhibition
22 May - 31 October, 2009
In the Dirke protective building

The posters in this exhibit have been selected from the international archaeobotanical exhibit of PaCE supported by the EU's Culture Programme (2007-2013), with the cooperation of scholarly institutions from 11 countries. The selection shown in Aquincum concentrates on Hungarian materials as well as Roman examples elsewhere in Europe.
Showcases contain archaeobotanical finds from the Roman Period in Budapest as well as ancient tools and objects related to plant exploitation. The exhibition, however, steps beyond the walls of the small exhibition building into the archaeologcial park of the Aquincum Museum. Beside the building grow vegetables known in the Roman Period as well as aromatic herbs. A medicinal herb garden and Roman style decorative garden can also be visited. Alongside the fountains and trees there are other plant-related curiosities as well.
