Budapest Day 2025 and Book sale

On Monday, 17 November 2025, in honour of Budapest Day: free admission and book sale at the member institutions of the Budapest History Museum.

Dear Visitors,

Budapest was born 152 years ago on 17 November 1873, through the unification of Pest, Buda and Óbuda.

On Monday, 17 November 2025, in honour of Budapest Day, the BHM Aquincum Museum can be visited free of charge.

Opening hours:
Exhibitions: 10:00 – 16:00
Archaeological Park: 10:00 – 16:00, if the weather is dry and surfaces are not slippery.
The House of the painter and the Symphorus mithraeum can be visited at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.
Last entry at 15:30.
The closing of the museum starts at 15:40.

 

Book Sale at the Budapest History Museum – Let’s celebrate Budapest’s birthday together!

In November, the Budapest History Museum welcomes visitors with a special book sale! Publications from the BHM’s member institutions – the Aquincum Museum, the Castle Museum, the Kiscell Museum, and the Municipal Gallery – are now available at huge discounts.

The selection includes:
– academic publications,
– exhibition catalogues.

The dates of the sale are:

November 17 (Monday) – Budapest’s birthday!
All member institutions can be visited free of charge, and publications related to the respective museum will be available at each location.

November 22 (Saturday) – Budapest Day at the Castle Museum
Free guided tours await visitors, and discounted publications from other member institutions will also be available for purchase at the Castle Museum.

November 26–27 (Wednesday–Thursday)
The book sale continues at the Castle Museum, where all member institutions’ books will once again be available!
