Saturnalia: The roots of Christmas in Antiquity

Saturnalia in Aquincum on Sunday, 9 December 2018 from 11:00 until 16:00. During the event: fee admission to the museum!

The Aquincum Museum is reviving a predecessor of modern Christmas, the joyful feast of Saturn, the lord of time with a colourful event filled with ancient games, arts and crafts workshops, children’s games, a play and interactive musical performance.

Programme:

11:00-12:00 Musical activities for children with Trappolka (in Hungarian)

11:00-15:00 Ancient games for children and adults

12:00-13:00 On the trail of constellations – a tour of the Mithras temple (in Hungarian)

13:00-15:00 Present-making arts and crafts workshop

15:00-16:00 Celtic stories for families, adults and children (in Hungarian)

Free admission during the event! There is a small fee to participate in the present-making workshop.


CENA SATURNALIA: The final event of the day, an Authentic Roman dinner – Cena Saturnalia. The Cena Saturnalia has been cancelled for technical reasons. Thank you for your understanding!


The Saturnalia is organised as part of “Advent in Óbuda 2018”.
